Mind -II - Knowledge, Time and Thought .

time

Knowledge which builds the mind is acquired over Time - an important factor which builds the image of self. Please see previous post.

Our whole life is based on action which is driven by our thoughts which again is based on knowledge. Knowledge acquired either by study, research, through experience, exchange, interaction, doing something or out of action (meaning you do something without thinking and then learn out of it) and all of which are accumulated over time.

We lead our daily life out of this actions, learn and again modify our act from that knowledge. But the accepted fact is - knowledge is never complete in any spheres - be it science, arts, relation, music, poetry, literature, farmer, or with anyone. A part of the knowledge is always filled with ignorance…. and action out of such knowledge can never be complete… Please do post your views if you think differently or you want to discuss this point.

There is yet to be an action which is complete, meaning which is free of greed, jealousy, aggressiveness, confusion, and which never results in attachment, conflict, pain and sorrow. Just look at people working in offices today - they are doing it just for some reward or out of fear (fear of losing their daily bread - or their hold of the market - or making a financial loss- or being called incompetent….) - we cannot get free and lead a life which we want - why can’t we ? Maybe the same cab driver will drive the cab for the better part of his life even though he does not like to do it - a woman here will go on cooking for the whole breed for all the years of her life even though she hates it - the traffic cop will keep on raising his hand to stop and pass cars for sixty odd years even though he cries inside at the thought of it - don’t you think there is something very wrong in the whole system of existence… something very weird! Lets go back to the time factor …

Even in love or in marriage or a relation, all our actions are based on the image of our partner or our spouse which we cultivate in our minds over time based on our previous impressions, images ( drawn from maybe few hundreds of exchanges and interactions) - and we act based on that image in our mind - (from knowledge) which gives rise to conflict, division and biasness, coz we think we have complete knowledge of the person when in reality we do not. Can we ever know a person completely - as we are not aware on his or her individual image in his/her mind which has build over a period of time based on his/her personal experiences.

As such our actions based on incomplete thought which again based on incomplete knowledge is always incomplete in nature and bound to result into conflict between each and everyone of us even man and woman, friends, relatives, colleagues, leaders, nations and so on…

So Time is also an important factor - as gathering knowledge requires time - we learn over a period of time. Even to know your loved one you require time. Time is also there in our psychological existence like i am an executive today - i want to be a manager , i love this girl and want to marry her, i have a bike but i will drive a car - and we think time will help us to attain these positions…

All our desires, greed, expectations, aspirations, assumptions, ambitions are time dependent!

So we can conclude that the basic component of our mind is thought, knowledge and time which determines 100% of all our actions.

Like in the next post we will see how human beings have lived a million years with this conflict from the very beginning …and we are still continuing to live with the same conflict… and so i believe and maybe others also that there is something drastically or radically wrong as our actions emerge from the same destructive mind… ( or mind full of conflicts) and maybe we will remain trapped in that self centered being for another million years…unless…. we radically change ourselves.

This post (and so the previous by the way) made my brain cells go in tilt :), and not only, it also made me ponder to what extent your visions are correct in my mind, and what I do not agree with. I think that you’re correct about the mind full of conflict more than destructive mind(s). For me fear is what causes aggression in our lifetime, and society. While fear and ignorance combined is even worse - this is what we should try to change really.
The question you asked was about the incompleteness of knowledge. And indeed, we strive for the duration of our lives to gather knowledge, as much knowledge as possible - so that we appear knowledgeable to our co-workers, or family and friends. The cliche: “you keep learning until you die….” is part of this same game. In fact we do not need to learn anything at all. The knowledge is there, and it is available, and has always been available for everyone and everywhere on our planet. The unconscious mind, the totality of our unconscious minds provide each breathing individual with all the knowledge and experiences that have taken place on Earth since the existence of our human race. There is a glitch however, and for 99.8% of the human population, it is impossible to just tap in this enormous database of knowledge. We have been changed, and have been taught to not trust the unconscious mind. And that we need facts, that we need knowledge, etc, etc.
I could go on, and on, and on but I will not. Its also Holiday time at the moment and I will keep reading your blog, and give my opinions here and there from time to time :) Happy New 2008 to you and yours!

The basic problem is we humans chased matter from the early days more than mind - the religious authorities kept control of that part and much more. Like you said the mind can reach anything provided we remove the clutter and pre-conceived notions. Chasing matter makes us a locked up individual and even science serves the commercial interest in such a social makeup. The result is devastating - apart from social unrest, we have famine, diseases, war, global warming and ultimately everything goes down…. maybe to begin a new cycle :)

Thanks a lot for sharing your views.
