Suffering isolates us and creates divison

How often we have heard - “you don’t know how sad I am” , “you cannot get my feeling”, “you sorrow is mine” etc. Each one of us thinks and feels that our misery or our suffering is typically ours and that it neither can be felt nor can be experienced by others. We feel ‘isolated’ in our sufferings - so ideally it can be said that suffering breeds isolation and in turn is one of the root causes of division among people when in true sense it should have united us !

Why cant we think that suffering is not mine and that the entire humanity is suffering today in some form or the other. You will never find anyone in today’s world or earlier who lived without fear or conflict or misery or some form of suffering - and one of the major cause is the feeling of me, we, us, ourselves the feeling of division. As of now we still think we are all different if any of our so called superfluous qualities does not differentiate me from others, we go out all the way to either shave half of our head or pierce holes in our body or wear something weird or speak something gibberish, or upload some crap in youtube - with the sole objective of proving that I am different! So what does we  prove ultimately - we only prove that we are all suffering from the same insecurity and conflict in mind created by self and the image or illusion of self which has been successful through ages to divide humanity into various streams by way of Nations, by way of Religions, by way of economy, by way of Boundaries and manged to make us fight one another.

Each one of us is same. Well, someone can sing well, someone can dance well, someone can draw well, someone can be good in maths - but these are all superfluous qualities again - which does not in any sense make us ‘different’ individuals - the one thing which makes us same is our destructive mentality as it continuously chases for more driven by the rotten outer-world we created. We are here, we want to be there, we are this we want to be this, we define success depending on what other people say - which is the pout world - so in effect when we are chasing ‘more’ or success we are asleep - coz you can only dream when you are asleep! Looking inside you awaken - then success doesn’t counts - what counts is satisfaction, but again satisfaction is also defined by our pre-conceived notions and among all these the real humanity - the intelligence - it sleeps - coz it never operates in an environment filled with noise - and our brain constantly emits noise - but more on this later.

The sorrow is not ours - the suffering belongs to the whole of humanity and as long as we are possessive with our sorrow it will only isolate us from one another and we would never open our eyes to the fact that we are all same and the feeling of self or individuality is just an illusion built inside us which keeps us divided and in perpetual conflict with one another. What does a conflict do between a rich and a poor, between a nation and another, between a religion and another except make us destructive in thought and action. We are walking on the same path for the past so many years and a simple study will tell us that we have not changed at all - we are walking the same path of destruction created by the division of the mankind. As long as we choose to remain with our so called acquired knowledge, wisdom and experience - we will remain and exist only as a miserable creature with all our sufferings, sorrow and pain.

Suffering can only breed isolation and isolation divides people. We must realize that suffering is not specific to individual or mine - it is everywhere and there can be no individuality attached to it.

Senses dont have memories until we tag them

sunset.jpg

How often we come across something beautiful like maybe a warm cup of coffee with some beautiful friend or a good song with romantic words or an evening sun with a cool drink in hand… Our senses don’t have memories but whenever we do something or experience something we have a unconscious tendency to compare with some past experience to measure the feeling and mark it as better or worse or similar.

Our senses really don’t have memories but its us who ‘tag’ every sense with some experience and try to remember them or store them - and that causes this comparison or conflict. If we like something - maybe a song or a book or a food we take it as a good feeling - we become so habituated that we do the tagging unconsciously. the brain stores the sense (in effect it should not have) with that particular image for future reference.

So a song arouses a feeling of melancholy or a nostalgia simply because it was tagged with some other events. A coffee tastes bad or good not from the taste it delivers but from the silent review by the mind which compares it with some past event based on the same tagging. That’s the reason why instead of enjoying a beautiful sunset we have a feeling of sadness or something missing.

It is very difficult to see something with a clean mind free of prejudice or perceived notions. So even when you are with someone in any circumstance - the brain on the background compares it with something in the past and gives it a different shade. A child will enjoy anyone’s company as his or her mind is free of any notions and will appreciate every experience - a child is always happy.

The past is always within us and takes strong hold of the present and also the future which again creates all the conflict in us. Humanity as of now is a product of the past - past knowledge, past experience and the like. And past will only create conflict and misery and suffering and keep us blind to true awareness.
